Colomba (which means Dove in Italian) is an Italian sweet Easter bread. Similar to the Christmas Panettone, however, la Colomba contains candied orange peel instead of raisins and is topped with almonds. It is shaped like a dove which is the Christian traditional symbol of peace and love.
The Colomba originated in the Lombardy region in Italy’s north and is often given to family and friends during the Easter period.
